I agree that a person should keep up with their debt as much as possible, but remember that even banks, large retailers, and others have a lot of debt but they don’t worry about it at all, they keep providing their services while borrowing to stay solvent, debt is always going to be a part of life, do the best you can with it and stop worrying about it, the majority of businesses don’t..
These businesses don't worry about debt because they can use it as a tool to grow their company and use cash-flow to pay off these debts. Even if they accumulate a bunch of bad debt (high interest rate loan that isn't used wisely), owners can always close down their business without facing any financial repercussion to their own financial assets.
If an individual do not pay off their debt, they can face wage garnishment and lowered credit score. This can lead to increased stress/anxiety, which possibly leads to health problems in the future. I definitely do agree that we shouldn't be overly worried about debt to the point that we are paralyzed about it and cannot stop thinking about it. However, we should develop plans on how to get out of it as soon as possible before it starts affecting our physical and mental health in the future. Whether it is calling the credit card company to ask about a payment plan or creating a budget to best allocate any excess funds towards the debt, we should always be mindful of the debt and do our best to pay it off.
